Saskatchewan First Nations Emergency Management

Mitigation. Preparedness. Response. Recovery. Emergency planning for all First Nation People.

Emergency Management planning provides the foundation for coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capabilities to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, criminal acts including terrorism or other man-made disasters.

Forestry services

FORESTRY SERVICES

We provide forest firefighting training services to all First Nations communities in Saskatchewan. Due to the remote areas needed to be accessed, proper training and preparation for combating forest fires are essential to our success. To ensure that all emergency services personnel and volunteers are equipped to fight fires in the forested regions of our province, our training programs involve classroom and active exercises that task participants with gaining familiarity with the equipment and terrain that they will be engaging with during an emergency fire situation.

Search & rescue

SEARCH & RESCUE

Search and rescue for any family is an emergency for everyone involved. This is why our office was eager to join the number of teams officially approved to conduct these responses. When we are deployed by the authority with jurisdiction, responding to these crises effectively and efficiently is crucial to successfully locate the missing persons. Time is the biggest factor and we are relieved that we can offer this service to our communities.

Services

Firefighter training

Firefighting

Our team provides training in combatting fires in rural and forested areas to our First Nation communities and neighbouring organizations. Whether a fire emergency breaks out in a community, at home, or in the forest, we want to make sure that those communities can respond, put out the fire, mitigate the spread and ensure impacted individuals receive medical attention. We are also able to support in providing relocation support in the event that someone’s home is lost in a fire through our Red Cross training.

Emergency Operation Centres

Natural disasters, like wildfires and flooding, continue to increase and the remote geographic locations of First Nations communities puts them at increased risk of emergencies. In the event of a disaster, we can have officers available in Emergency Operation Centres and in affected communities that can assist and guide emergency staff and volunteers, in addition to our other emergency response services.
